Grameen Shramik Pratishthan has initiated a mission to create employment for persons with disability to facilitate their inclusion and empowerment.

Meaningful & Remunerative Vocational Training 

Training visually challenged youth as an Acupressure and Massage Therapist has created unique opportunity and it has proved high impact programme.

​

This course assures remunerative employment for visually challenged youth, enables them  to overcome disability as well as serve society as a valued health professional.

​

This revolutionary programme was initiated with support of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. in the year 2011. It started with batch of 15 youth and now every year 35 youth are trained and the programme is being sponsored under CSR initiates of BPCL. By year 2020 10 batches have been successfully trained and more than 200 youth have availed the training.

Scale Up Plan

At present there is no other remunerative employment opportunity as the Acupressure- Massage Therapy can assure,especially for rural visually challenged youth. Hence to tap the maximum potential of creating employment opportunity for rural visually challenged youth in the state of Maharashtra the organization has initiated programme that is MISSION 1500.

Pratishthan aims to train 1500 rural visually challenged youth of Maharashtra in an acupressure–Massage Therapy and facilitate their social-economic rehabilitation in an organised manner in next five years.

Training 50 Youth in Each District 

Each district town of Maharashtra can absorb 50 visually challenged therapist and there are 30 rural districts so the project aims to train 1500 rural visually challenged youth as the therapist. This target will be achieved by setting up 10 regional local training units. Each unit will train 150 youth in four years.

Post Training Rehabilitation Support:

The programme is not just to train 1500 youth but ensure that they claim equal opportunity and sustain their occupation staying with their family. The programme will follow principle of comprehensive rehabilitation and will provide strong post training rehabilitation support for two years. Later the support will be made available by Self-Help Group and cooperative organization formed by the therapists in the district.
